If you are under 18, show this site to a parent or trusted adult.
This site is written for adults, 18 and older.
If you are under 18 and you are frightened about an eviction, please do not try to carry this by yourself. Talk to a parent, a guardian, a teacher, a school counselor, a coach, or any adult you trust. Tell them what is happening at home. Being expected to carry this without support is not something anyone should expect of you.
You can also reach people directly, any hour:
- Talk to someone about what’s happening — California Youth Crisis Line, (800) 843-5200, 24 hours, for teens and families in crisis. Or National Runaway Safeline, call or text 1-800-786-2929, 24 hours.
- Alameda County youth support — ACCESS, (800) 491-9099, 24 hours, the county’s entry point to youth mental health and crisis services, up to age 24.
- Housing help — call 211, or 1-888-886-9660 if 211 sends you to the wrong county. Free, confidential, 24 hours, and a real person answers.
- Transitional housing — Dorothy Day House, (510) 705-1325 (after hours (510) 705-1516); Bay Area Community Services (BACS), (510) 613-0330; Abode Services, (510) 657-7409; LifeLong Medical Care, (510) 981-3250, ask for the Supportive Housing Program. Which organization is handling intake varies by city and by year — call to find out who is currently taking referrals.
- If you are not safe, or you are thinking about hurting yourself — call or text 988.
If your phone has an area code from outside Alameda County, calling 211 may connect you to that other county’s 211 service instead — that is because 211 routes by your phone’s area code, not by where you actually are. Ask whoever answers if you have reached Alameda County 211. If you have not, call 1-888-886-9660 to reach Alameda County directly.
Asking is the right move.
